AstralPool installs the pools for the 2008 World Swimming Championships in Manchester, UK.

From 9th to 13th April 2008 Manchester’s Evening News Arena, most commonly used for concerts, has been transformed into the venue of this world class swimming event.  The International Swimming Federation (FINA), has once again put their trust in AstralPool and we have installed two temporary Skypools: the 25m x 25m x 2m competition pool and the 25m x 15m x 2m warm up pool.

This system, which was developed exclusively by the company, makes it possible to install the pool without a single screw being driven into the arena floor.  This allows sports stadiums and multiuse arenas to host swimming events whilst making the most the infrastructures such as seating, food and drink facilities, parking, etc, already in place.  After the event in Manchester the pool will be removed and the arena will once again host the music events for which it s renown.

The technology used in Manchester was first used by AstralPool in Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona for the 2003 World Swimming Championships.  It was subsequently used again in Shanghai 2006 and Melbourne, Australia in 2007.
